New Behaviors Are Emerging for TV Viewing

Here’s an interesting study that may be of more interest to our clients in new media or with TV stations; nonetheless, we can extrapolate some useful and actionable findings for radio as well.  Based on 17,300 online interviews with people aged 16–69 in Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, France, Germany, Italy, Mexico, Russia, Spain, South Korea, Sweden, Taiwan, UK, and US, 72% of respondents reported using mobile devices to view video content at least once a week (including 41% of 65-69!).  75% multitask by using mobile devices while watching TV. 49% will use apps or browse the internet to find out more about the content they are watching, while almost 1 in 3 will discuss what they are currently viewing over social networks or chats.
