At the end of the day, this will give the new company a nationwide footprint of 244 stations in 23 of the top 25 U.S. markets, putting it in second place behind iHeart Media. 

 

We had a quick chat with Gary Stone who has been a key player in some of radios biggest mergers including HBC and Univision.  We caught up with Gary while he was on the move, but got his initial take: “at first blush, it’s two smart firms that view consolidation as their best hope to drive the kind of future revenue that Wall Street will expect.”
